Hatha Yoga & Tibetan singing bowls meditation:
This class welcomes beginners to advanced students. A chance to focus in, bring awareness to self and detach from unwanted thoughts. The physical side of the practice will include a slow moving sequence of sun salutations, warriors, balance and stretching asanas (postures) with variations to suit individual levels. The meditation will allow you to immerse yourself in the beautiful sound of tibetan singing bowls, giving you a chance to let go, release and open up mentally and physically.
Jim has been practicing yoga since 1990 and has been teaching since 1992.
Back in 2000, Jim founded Vajrasati Yoga, and is a Yoga Alliance Professionals Teacher training Plus 500 RYS course which is the highest accreditation available for a teacher training course. In truth the course outstrips even the new high standards required by teacher training plus accreditation with over 1000 hours of training between the contact and non-contact aspects of the course.
As a teacher trainer I teach and am qualified to teach students ranging from total beginners to advanced and everyone in between.
The focus of the classes is hinged on yoga practices that are familiar to most; asana (posture), dhyana (mediation), pranayama (breathing practices), mudra (hand gestures and otter 'energy containers and mantra (chanting). Taking the lions share of these is asana.
All the techniques are employed to serve the principal purpose of yoga - an awakening to the undivided holism of our essence.
My goal is to empower students to spark an intrinsic conversation within themselves; to discover the depths and possibilities that lie beyond the confines of ego, doubt, and self-criticism. It is said that the asana (physical) practice makes up only 1% of what Yoga teaches and represents. The physical practice is merely a thread which leads to the more important realization of the true self. As a wise teacher once said to me “I know a lot of not-so-amazing people that can do really amazing handstands”. I teach from the belief that the Yoga practice should be free from prerequisites and made accessible for everyone. Ultimately, my aim is to inspire individuals to live their yoga “off of the mat” as more mindful, compassionate and empathetic individuals- so to inspire others to do the same.

A Senior Yoga Instructor, Minded Yoga Therapist, Experienced Teacher Trainer and Minded Institute supervisor, Bryony is Be-Yoga's founder and with 10 years full-time teaching experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to Be-Yoga.
With a regular yoga practice since drama school in the 90s, Bryony found the breathing techniques and the discipline of yoga enhanced the experience of performance. Moving to Brighton in 2002 and discovering hot yoga was when the practice became a daily, transformative experience. Teacher training followed and since 2008 Bryony has had the opportunity to teach yoga full time to many different students of all ages and abilities.
Ever a student and developing her teaching skills with further training and continual, evolving practice, Bryony currently trains with Shiva Rea in India, London and Greece and works as a supervisor with Heather Mason on the 500hr professional Yoga Therapy course at The Minded Institute. Also qualified in 2010 with Jo Manuel at The Special Yoga Centre - Teaching Yoga To Children and Yoga for the Special child, Bryony has completed various immersions with the Jivamukti school of yoga and trained with Judith Laseter in restorative yoga.
Balancing dynamic practice and a regular and dedicated Yin yoga practice, Bryony passionately believes that the practice of yoga is for all of us and that there is a style of yoga to suit everybody - at every stage of life.
Shiatsu-based chair massage
I will be offering 15-minute, shiatsu-based chair massages for the back, shoulders and spine. Shiatsu (finger pressure in Japanese) is a system of bodywork fusing Chinese medical theory with western approaches to anatomy and physiology into a method of bodywork to relax the body and mind.
I teach Qigong, an exercise system from China that incorporates movement, healing posture, breathing techniques and meditation to foster relaxation and develop the body’s life energy or “Qi”. Through the gentle performance of a set of guided movements, the body’s Qi is propelled through a network of energy channels related to the different organs in the body promoting better health, greater energy and a sense of tranquillity and calm in the mind.
Tony is a Shiatsu therapist, Qigong instructor and counsellor. He has trained with some of the country’s leading Energy work practitioners including Cliff Andrews, Annie Cryar and Nicola Ley of the Shiatsu College and Kulwinder Kaur and Dan Stretton from the British School of Shiatsu. He has studied under Sifu Cheung of the Tai Chi and Feng Shui Institute and is qualified to teach the three principal forms of Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi. He has always been fascinated by the relationship between mind and body and sees Shiatsu and Qigong as means to enable others to develop their own healing resources.
